The CSA Inspection Procedure

The factories that produce mobile homes and/or modular homes are certified by the Canadian Standards Association. This procedure enables each factory to produce fully finished homes, place a CSA Label on each mobile home certifying compliance to the CSA Z240MH National Mobile Home Standard, and place a CSA label on each modular home, certifying compliance to the NBCC or Provincial Building Code. For homes sited in Alberta, it further enables the factory to apply an Alberta Municipal Label Certifying Alberta Builidng Code (ABC) Compliance. CSA certification ensures each factory maintains strict quality control and inspection programs and utilizes well trained labour, a design staff with thorough building code knowledge, and skilled inspectors that monitor and inspect each home at each stage of the production process. In addition, CSA personnel conduct periodic inspections of the homes being produced in each factory. The CSA Label placed on each home is numbered and a serial number is assigned to each home. A permanent record of the CSA Label number, the serial number, and the specifications of each home produced is maintained by the manufacturer.
